Heritage Day Giveaway Take 2 – Winner!

Friday, October 15th, 2010

The mania here today! Blame it for this announcement taking a bit longer than usual!

So with this giveaway of a portable braai and a stainless steel braai kit, all you had to do was like our Facebook page and then leave a comment on the wall. It didn’t really matter what the comment said because the winner has been chosen through the random number generator – a lot less fun than the judging process I must admit!

I just want to say thank you to those of you who took the effort to enter  – having to redraw the giveaway did throw us a curveball that we didn’t expect. On the upside though, we get to make one of you a winner this afternoon.

And the winner of the portable braai and stainless steel braai kit is the self-proclaimed braai master herself, Gina J!

Congrats Gina, I hope it’ll come in handy. Some boerie rolls in the maternity ward perhaps?

Thanks again to everyone who supports us with these experimental giveaways, it really does mean a lot to us and have an AWESOME weekend!

Heritage Day Giveaway Take 2 – Redraw!

Friday, October 8th, 2010

You might remember a couple of weeks ago we ran a Heritage Day Giveaway where the prize was an awesome portable braai and a stainless steel braai kit to go with it.

Well, the prize still remains unclaimed past the 7 day period, even though we have tried to contact the winner a few times. What I’m really trying to say is  that the prize is still up for grabs and we’re going to be doing a redraw to find the next winner.

If you want to be entered into the redraw all you have to do is Like our Facebook Page and leave a comment on our Facebook page telling us how awesome you are (or we are, we like the compliments) by following this link and clicking ‘Like’ or, simply click the handy little button below.

We’ll be doing the drawing next Friday (15th of October) at 1 p.m. so get going!

Pina Colada Dreams winners!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

This week was a tough one. I won’t lie to you.

As I mentioned in the competition announcement, the comments were printed out with the names removed and given to our two judges over here who have been kept away from Twitter, Facebook and the blog for the past week so that they have absolutely no idea what is going on.

At first, things went smoothly and we had our Preggy Hamper winner chosen easily, problems started with the Pina Colada hamper though. We had a *gasp* tie. And so, we had to bring in our third judge who I’m sure still has no idea what he was voting on.

So, without any further delay, I give you our winners.

The ultimate winner of the Knocked Up Thrills hamper which includes the Stretchmark Soothing Oil, Fatigue Fighter Bath Oil and Pregnancy Glow Body Butter is…

Miss MeganTS and her Monaco grand prix fantasy. Although I really want to go there now :/

Finally, our other winner of the Pina Colada Dreams hamper is…

Hang on, I have to start the drum roll on winamp…

Okay. Our winner is…

Wendy!

Congratulations to both of you, I’ll be in contact soon :)

Pina Colada Dreams and Preggy Thrills Hamper Giveaways

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

“If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. If you’re not into yoga, if you have half a brain. If you’d like making love at midnight in the dunes on the Cape, then I’m the love that you’ve looked for, write to me and escape.”

If you look at those lyrics and immediately start humming the tune to Rupert Holmes song, Escape, and want to feel that sense of freedom – then I’m looking at you kid.

We have another two Body Thrills hampers to give away this week, a divine Pina Colada one that will make you believe you have escaped to those dunes on the Cape, and, a special Knocked Up Thrills hamper for the moms to be.

Full details of the prizes to follow but I know you guys are impatient so here’s what you have to do…

To Enter: Just leave a comment here (scroll down to the comment form – and make sure you enter a valid email address because that’s how we’ll contact you) and tell us the ideal place you’d love to escape to with a Pina Colada in hand (a virgin cocktail for the moms to be please ;P ). Preggy people, let us know you are preggy with your comment too!

You have until next week Tuesday, the 5th of October at which point all the comments will be printed out, names removed and randomized. They will then be handed over to the judges who will pick the most inventive, creative or entertaining in their mind.

The Prizes:

Pina Colada Dreams:

This hamper has three Pina Colada products in it all made with all natural pineapple, cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut and honey. So delicious you’ll have to stop yourself from eating them. It’s thrills for your body darlings, get some real Pinas for your mouth ;)

  • Pina Colada Shower Gel
  • Pina Colada Body Butter
  • Pina Colada Lip Balm

I’m actually quite sad that I can’t win this one myself, almost as disappointed as I was that time I thought I won the lottery.

Knocked Up Thrills:

This hamper was designed after a strenuous half an hour chat with a couple of friends who have been through the 9 month pregnant glow and they filled me in on all the highlights, lowlights and just what products they would have loved to have.

First up there is the Stretchmark Soothing Oil made with almond oil, carrot oil, rose, lavender, geranium and jasmine. For those of you new moms who have managed to keep a fit bod your whole life, the idea of stretchmarks on your belly can be frightening. This oil will sooth itchy skin and give it an extra bit of elasticity and suppleness to help prevent those stretchmarks.

Then there is the Fatigue Fighter Bath Oil made with lavender, grapefruit and coriander. A huge problem for all the preggo women I have known is that they are just so tired all the time -  you would be, you’re busy growing a whole little person inside you. This bath oil will take that fatigue on and invigorate you.

Finally, there is the Pregnancy Glow Body Butter made with lavender, geranium and rose. The Body Thrills queen tells me that while you’re pregnant, your hormones are going crazy enough to cause excess ‘sebum production’ which means you can end up with flaky, discoloured skin. So much for that pregnant glow you heard so much about huh? Well, this body butter is all about helping to regulate the skins oil production and leaving you all soft and goddess like again.

As Usual, we have the rules:

This competition closes on the 5th of October 2010 at 12:00pm. Any entries received past this point will not be valid for entry into the competition.

1. Entry to the competition is restricted to one entry per person please.

2. Competition open to South African residents only.

3. Winners will be chosen via an extensive judging process.

4. Winners names and possible photos will be published.

5. The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

6. If a winner does not claim a prize within 7 days of us contacting them, the prize will be redrawn.

7. We cannot be held responsible for any emotional distress caused by not winning our competition.

8. For that matter, we cannot be held responsible for any emotional distress caused by winning our competition.

If you need help, information or would just like to give us some feedback on the competition, please email us or even leave a comment here. Have fun!

Pamper Hamper Winners

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

I love announcing winners, it makes me all tingly inside.

The Pamper Hamper Body Thrills competition has been fun and thank you to all of you for entering and enjoying the spirit of the competition. Remember, even if you didn’t win a hamper, you can still get your free iPad…picture.

All week I have been lucky enough to read all your tweets telling us why you deserve to win one of the Body Thrills hampers we’re giving away. Unfortunately this meant that I knew who they all came from so I wasn’t even allowed to take part in the judging process and push for my favourites.

Ah, the judging process. It was a simple one. I took all the tweets and Facebook messages and printed them out for the boys in the office to look through. Each then chose their two favourites in a kind of semi-final. Once we had the last surviving tweets, the two absolute favourites were chosen from those. You see, absolutely no bias on my part.

The winning tweets/messages were:

@FatimaJ (Fatima Jakoet) who will walk away with our Chocolate Cupcake Hamper :

@ClassifiedsSA needs to give me a #BThamper coz I was the pilot on SAA 347 flight who flew @JustinBieber into Cape Town yesterday #forreal

And @AndreWilkinson who gets the wonderful Manly Lemon Hamper:

@ClassifiedsSA needs to give me a #BThamper cos the only thing I have ever won in my life was the race as a sperm cell. I deserve more…

I would love to point out who else made it to the semi-finals but we all know that getting a silver mention and no prize sucks. I’ll save you the suck ;)

Again, congratulations you two. Once we have your details, I’ll get the Body Thrills queen to ship your hampers off to you ASAP!

Wait! Don’t leave!

Our next competition starts tomorrow, another two hampers are up for grabs from Body Thrills but I’ll let you know the details…tomorrow ;)

We’re giving away an iPad…

Monday, September 27th, 2010

…picture.

No really, all you need to do is right click the picture below and then “Save as…” and save it to your machine. Then you can look at it whenever you like and be the envy of all your friends.

If you want some real street cred though, remember that tomorrow is our closing date for our current giveaway. Just follow us on Twitter or Facebook and then complete the sentence:

@ClassifiedsSA needs to give me a #BThamper cos…

If you do you’ll be entered to win one of two fabulous hampers this week – one for the guys and one for the ladies. For more info and the rules, check out the giveaway page right here.

Now, here’s your free iPad ;)

Please note that we’re not actually offering a real iPad as a prize. This is a joke. Ha ha. Well, we thought it was funny.

Win Pamper Hampers with TheClassifieds

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

This is just an example. Not the prizes. We'll get those photos for you later.

Outside it’s miserable – clouds everywhere, scattered showers and a persistently annoying wind. In other words, a traditional Cape Town spring. According to the weather man, the rest of the country isn’t faring too well either with many of our major cities supposedly seeing rain this week.

Personally I find the “miserable” weather fabulous. It means I can cuddle up in bed with a book and not feel guilty about not being outside. A lot of people do find it to be as described though – perfectly miserable and may need a bit of a pick me up. To help you out, we’ve got two Body Thrills hampers to give away to two lucky winners this week.

To win one of these great hampers all you need to do is:

  • Follow us on Twitter or Facebook (you can do both if you like)
  • Complete the following sentence in a Tweet or in a message on our Facebook wall:

@ClassifiedsSA needs to give me a #BThamper cos…

  • That’s it! You’re entered!

So that’s the basics of the competition, here are the prizes and the details.

How long do I have to enter:

The competition runs from right now, 21st of September until the 28th of September at 12pm.

The Prizes!

Body Thrills are homemade pamper products made by the talented ExMi. We discovered she made these delectable treats and then decided we just had to have some to give away to all of you. If you want to check out what else she has to offer, click the Body Thrills logo above.

Firstly there is the sinfully delicious Chocolate Cupcake hamper. This comes with:

  • Cupcake Frosting Body Polish made with vanilla, soy milk, shea butter, cocoa butter and honey.
  • Cupcake Frosting Shower Gel
  • Chocolate Pudding Lip Balm (Come on, lip balm made with chocolate? You’ll be soothing your lips and getting an awesome flavour)

The second hamper for this week is a refreshing Lemon Hamper for the guys:

  • Tea Tree and Lemon Shower Gel
  • Lemon, Lime and Juniper Berry Facial Scrub
  • Lemon, Neroli, Geranium and Lemongrass Aftershave Balm

Details, details:

The main that is changing this week is the method of entry and choosing a winner. I’m bored of having Ninja Tim randomly pick an entry by flinging a star at it, mainly because his aim isn’t great at the best of times and we have to duck a lot. So this week, the entries are going to be judged, not only by Ninja Tim but by the entire Classifieds Team and an extra two impartial judges to make it more than fair. However, I don’t think anyone here is opposed to bribes if they’re gadgets.

The Boring Rules:

This competition closes on the 28th of September 2010 at 12:00pm. Any entries received past this point will not be valid for entry into the competition.

1. Entry to the competition is restricted to one entry per person please. Either one tweet or one Facebook post.

2. Multiple entries will be disqualified.

3. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.

4. Competition open to South African residents only.

5. Winners will be chosen via an extensive judging process.

6. Winners names and possible photos will be published.

7. The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

8. If a winner does not claim a prize within 7 days of us contacting them, the prize will be redrawn.

9. We cannot be held responsible for any emotional distress caused by not winning our competition.

10. For that matter, we cannot be held responsible for any emotional distress caused by winning our competition.

If you need help, information or would just like to give us some feedback on the competition, please email us or even leave a comment here. Have fun!

Win some Heritage Day Braai goodies!

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

The 24th of Septemer is one of those days I can’t actually forget. When I was a child, it was the birthday of one of my favourite couins. A short while later, it became Heritage Day, a day when every single South African can celebrate the rich cultural heritage we have as a country as well as our own heritage, beliefs and traditions. It is a day to celebrate the rainbow nation.

Since the inception of this great day, it has grown to become one of the best known public holidays that we as South Africans celebrate and has been given a wonderful twist. In 2005, Heritage Day also became known as National Braai Day (or Braai4Heritage as it’s known today) because no matter what your culture, many South Africans have grown up with the tradition of the braai. The Braai4Heritage campaign has since gathered so much momentum that even Archbishop Desmond Tutu has become the patron of the day due to the power it has of unifying the country.

Now we at The Classifieds love Heritage Day and we want you to enjoy it as much as we do so this week we’re going to be running a giveaway where you can stand the chance to win the things that you need to have a fantastic braai on heritage day:

A portable braai that comes with a handy carry case and cutting board to get the perfect piece of meat, and, a seven piece stainless steel braai set to make sure you can marinate your meat and turn it while it’s cooking without burning your fingers.

If you want to stand a chance of winning all you need to do is Like our Facebook Page by following this link and clicking ‘Like’ or, simply click the handy little button below.

On Friday, we’ll be doing a random draw of all our page members to get our lucky winner :)

Now if braaing isn’t your thing, don’t worry, we have something else coming your way next week – just remember to join us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to hear all about it.

The Rules of the Giveaway:

This giveaway closes on the 17th of September 2010 at 2pm (that’s 14h00). Any entries received past this point will not be valid for entry into the competition.

  1. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.
  2. Giveaway is open to South African residents only.
  3. Winners will be chosen at random from all valid entries.
  4. The winner’s name will be published.
  5. The decision from the random draw is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. If a winner does not claim a prize within 7 days of us contacting them, the prize will be redrawn.
  7. We cannot be held responsible for any emotional distress caused by not winning our competition.
  8. For that matter, we cannot be held responsible for any emotional distress caused by winning our competition.

Cash Giveaway Winner!

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Our latest competition of giving away R2500 in cash (R1500 for you and R1000 for your charity of choice) wrapped up today at 12 and our lucky winner, chosen using the random number generator on random.org, is the stunning Expensive Mistakes.

Her charity of choice is the Centre For the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (otherwise known as C.R.O.W) who are situated in Yellowwood Park, Durban. Basically, they’re a wildlife centre who treat, care and rehabilitate injured wild animals. ExMi has told us that they do an incredible job (even without her volunteering still ;P)

Congratulations again ExMi – now spoil yourself a bit!

To our other entrants, please try again next time! And we haven’t forgotten your charities – we will be placing them on the site throughout the day so hopefully more people can see them and will want to help out :)

Anyway everyone, that was the last competition for August. Please be patient with us as we do this, we’re learning as we go, but we have had some incredible winners in the three competitions that we’ve done.

Westley won himself a R1500 Kulula.com voucher, Nathan was the lucky recipient of the R1000 Kalahari voucher and now ExMi gets to walk away with a decent wad of cash and a happy feeling about being the cause behind a donation to a worthwhile charity.

Not a bad way to start the week in my opinion.
